Today we gather not in sorrow, but in celebration of a life well-lived, a journey well-traveled, and a faith well-kept. Wilner Dasse, son of the late Moleus Dasse and Chericienne Vante, was born on January 14, 1949, in the beautiful land of Port Salut, Haiti. His earthly journey was completed, and he was called to his heavenly home on December 31, 2024, in the city of Boston (Dorchester), Massachusetts.
Wilner was a faith-filled and loving man known for his passionate dedication to his family and church. His voyage from Haiti to the United States was marked by resilience and an enduring hope for a brighter future, not only for himself but also for his family. Before his health declined, he enjoyed singing in the church choir every chance he had. He also enjoyed being a present father, instilling values that he held dear- faith, hard work, and honesty. His heart was the fullest when he was surrounded by his beloved children and grandchildren. He created a bond with them that was unbreakable. He is survived by his children Lourdie Dasse, Jemima "Jiji" Hernandez (Dasse), Tamar Dasse, Othni Dasse, and son-in-law Jose Hernandez. They, along with his cherished grandchildren Cyril, Miriam, Zechariah, Jayana, Julian, and Noah were the joy of his life. Wilner's heart was always full when he was in the company of his children and grandchildren, his face lighting up with pride and tenderness. In addition, he is survived by his brother Joseph Gesner Dasse, sister-in law Gertrude Dasse, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He cherished his family with endless adoration and pride.
In honoring his memory, we reflect on the words that best capture the heart of Wilner Dasse: faith-filled, loving, and passionate. He embodied these attributes until his final days. His love for his family and devotion to his faith were the signs of a life well-lived. Memories with Wilner etched into the hearts of his family, will become a reservoir of joy they will continue to draw from and will inspire and uplift all who had the privilege of knowing him. Wilner's life demonstrates to us all that true wealth is found in the relationships we nurture and the love we share. His chapter among us may have concluded, but the story that began with him will continue for generations—a narrative of hope, passion, and unconditional love. His legacy is one of love, faith, and dedication for life.
Though Wilner’s seat among us is now absent, and we bid our earthly farewell to a man whose life was a true testament to the love and grace of our Creator, let us not dwell in the valley of grief, but rather walk in the legacy of such a remarkable servant of God and may our songs of praise honor his memory until we, too, cross the river to glory. Let us lift our eyes to the mountains from where our help comes from, for our help comes from the Lord, who called His faithful servant to everlasting peace and glory. We stand assured that Wilner Dasse has joined the heavenly choir, and his soul marches on in splendor, where the streets are golden, and the light never fades. He will forever be remembered, cherished, and loved. Now, unto Him who is able to keep us from falling, to the only wise God our Savior, be glory and majesty, dominion, and power, both now and forever. Amen.
