William Childs Obituary

William J. Childs, a cherished son, father, brother, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2025, surrounded by his family in Weymouth. Born on August 28, 1953, in Madison, New Jersey, to William "Bud" and Evelyn Childs, Bill’s journey through life was marked by a warm heart, a generous spirit, and an infectious enthusiasm for the pursuits he loved.

He graduated from Madison High School and then made his way to Massachusetts, where he would spend the majority of his life. Duxbury became his home for many years, and it was there that he made his mark professionally and personally.

Bill’s professional life was as a highly respected self-employed kitchen designer. His eye for detail and his ability to transform spaces into warm, inviting areas of the home earned him a reputation as a master of his craft. Colleagues and clients alike admired Bill for his work ethic and his commitment to excellence.

But it was not just his professional life that defined Bill. He was a devoted family man, lovingly remembered by his children: Casey Childs and his wife Lindsay of Maryland, Christy Davis and her husband John of Canton, Cody Childs and his wife Amanda of New York, and Corey Childs and his wife Sarah of Maine. He instilled in them the values of hard work, the importance of family, and the joy of living life to the fullest. Bill’s role as a brother was just as important, and he will be deeply missed by Bob Childs and his wife Liz of Florida, Cindy and her husband Scott of California, and Pam Johnson and her partner Lynn of New Hampshire. His eight grandchildren, who brought immense joy and laughter into his life, will cherish their memories of him forever.

Bill’s passions extended well beyond the walls of the homes he designed. An avid boater, he found peace and solace on the waters, navigating with the skill and freedom that mirrored his approach to life. The thrill of skiing down snow-covered slopes, the precision of shooting, and the camaraderie found on the golf course were all activities that Bill enjoyed immensely. He shared these interests with friends, family, and fellow members of the American Legion in Duxbury, where he was an active and valued member.

To know Bill was to know a man of action and adventure, but also one of kindness and community. His legacy is not just in the tangible outcomes of his work or the achievements of his family but also in the laughter he shared, the advice he gave, and the lives he touched.

As we bid farewell to Bill Childs, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and joy. His story does not end here; it continues in the hearts of those he loved and the community that he helped to build and enrich. Bill’s spirit will forever guide us like a beacon, inspiring us to embrace the beauty of life, the strength of family, and the joy of a journey well-traveled.

Services will be private for the family. Friends and Family will be invited to a Celebration of Life Ceremony this November.
