Tina M. Avila, age 72, a cherished soul known for her friendly demeanor and kind heart, passed away unexpectedly at her home in Canton, MA, on March 2, 2025. Born in the beautiful Flores Azores, Portugal, Tina carried the spirit of her homeland within her, infusing her life in the United States with the vibrant culture and traditions of her Portuguese roots.
Tina's journey led her from Portugal to Stoughton, MA, where she lived for many years, embracing the community as her own and forming lasting friendships. She later moved to Canton, where she continued to make a positive impact on those around her. A devoted mother, Tina's love knew no bounds when it came to her sons, Andrew Avila of Attleboro and Peter Avila, along with his wife Poliana, of Nottingham, NH. Her grandchildren, Daryn, Isabella, Emilia, Caetana, Liz, and Luke, were the lights of her life, each one carrying a piece of her legacy.
Tina's siblings, Helder Freitas of Berkeley, Maria Cohen of Stoughton, and Gorett Notas of Randolph, will forever hold the memories of their sister. Tina's family was her world; her siblings were a source of strength and direction.
Educated in Portugal, Tina brought her strong work ethic and dedication to the United States, where she built a career as a Manufacturing Line Worker for Datel in Mansfield. Her colleagues knew her as a reliable and hardworking individual, always ready to lend a hand or share a smile. Her contributions were not only to her workplace but also extended to her involvement with the Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton, where she was an active and valued member.
Tina's love for all creatures was evident in her adoration for animals. Her kind-hearted nature made her a friend to every living being, and her care for pets and wildlife alike was a testament to her compassionate spirit. Tina's interests and activities reflected the richness of her character, from her cultural heritage to her community engagement, she lived a life full of passion and purpose.
The world has lost a truly magnificent person in Tina M. Avila. Her friendly and kind nature will be missed by all who had the pleasure of crossing paths with her. Tina's legacy is one of love, kindness, and the joy of life, and it will continue to inspire and guide her family, friends, and all who were touched by her generous soul.
