Thomas G. Norris, a longtime resident of Brighton, MA died on March 21, 2025 at Cape Cod Hospital. He was 73 years old. Tom was born in Boston on June 14, 1951. He was the oldest of five children born to Thomas J. Norris and Claire Crowley Norris. He grew up in Canton, MA and Manchester, NH.
Tom received a bachelors degree from The College of the Holy Cross, graduating in the class of 1973. He later earned a Masters Degree at University of Mainz in Mainz Germany. After spending a school year in Austria as a college junior, and then attending University of Mainz, Tom became an avid world traveler. He used all his vacation time to return to Europe or travel in the US.
Tom had a long career as a high school history teacher. He taught at Pope John XXIII High School in Everett and later, at Cathedral High School in Boston. He had a wealth of knowledge about US and World History and could be counted on to know the answers to almost any history or geography question.
A lifelong fan of Boston sports teams, his family has many memories of attending baseball and hockey games with him. In recent years, he could be counted on to text you the good or bad news about Red Sox, Bruins, Patriots and Celtics games.
Tom had many friends from around the country and the world. He was loyal and generous with his family, and much loved by his siblings, in-laws and nephews and niece, co-workers and friends.
Tom was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Claire Norris and by his brother Robert W. Norris (Aris Fajardo), and his step-mother Maxine Boyer Norris. Tom will be missed by his surviving siblings, Jeanne Norris Neal (Richard) of Centerville, MA, Brian M. Norris (Cindy) of Haverhill, MA and James E, Norris (Lisa) of Arlington, VA. He also leaves a step-brother, Mark Boyer (Terri) of California and step-sister, Vicki Boyer Denfeld (Bill) of Florida. Tom leaves four nephews and a niece, who will miss his humor and generosity. They are: Thomas E. Norris( Lauren) of Somervlle, MA, Robert J.Norris of Mesa, Arizona, Daniel S. Neal of Brooklyn, NY, Claire A. Norris Feinstein ( Ethan) of Silver Spring, MD and James M. Neal (Ilana) of Randolph, MA. Tom was a great uncle to all and a granduncle to Rye and Sam of Silver Spring, MD.
Relatives and friends are invited to a funeral service, held at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home on Monday, March 31st, at 11 a.m. Visiting hours will be held for an hour prior to the service, from 10-11 a.m. Burial at St. Mary's Cemetery in Canton.
