Theodoros “Teddy” Bitsikas, a cherished and esteemed member of the Greek-American community, surrounded by his family, he peacefully passed away on February 28, 2025, in Milton, Massachusetts, at the venerable age of 98. Born on July 20, 1926, in a small village named Manthirea outside of the city of Tripoli, Greece. Theodoros was the son of the late Dimitrios and Marina (Kartsounis) Bitsikas. His journey brought him from the warm Mediterranean sun to the vibrant tapestry of American life in 1962, where he established his legacy and touched the lives of many.
Theodoros was the beloved husband of the late Christina (Koulogeorgiou) Bitsikas, with whom he shared sixty loving years with. He was the devoted father of Constantina Marsoobian and her husband Gary of Revere, Marina Karafotias and her husband Nickolas of Stoughton, and Demetra Hammond and her late husband Joseph of Canton. Theodoros also leaves behind his four grandchildren Kristen Papadogiannis, Nicole Marsoobian, Valerie Blathras, and the late Peter Karafotias. His legacy further extends to his five great- grandchildren, Dylan, Dimitri, Yianni, Zena and Niko, and one great-great granddaughter Xia all of whom he adored, and who will carry forward his values and traditions.
Theodoros was predeceased by seven brothers and sisters, Dina Damoularis, Christitsa Voutselakos, Peter Bichekas, Emilia Kyriakoulis, Constantinos Bitsikas, and Vasiliki Kastritis. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews within the United States and Greece.
A hard working and determined man, Theodoros built a life shaped by resilience and perseverance. He worked for many years as a skilled meat cutter at Colonial Meats in Boston, known for his dedication and craft.
Theodoros spent thirty-two years in Roslindale, where he became a beloved figure and friend to many. He was retired for many years, enjoyed music, dancing and hunting with members of the Artemis Sportsman Club of Cambridge, meeting up with his brothers and friends within the Greek Community for an occasional drink.
Tough and protective, Theodoros prioritized his family’s well-being above all else. He was a strong-willed man who faced life’s challenges head-on and instilled in his children the values of hard work and perseverance.
His memory will live on in his family, who will carry forward the traditions, lessons and strength he imparted. May his memory be eternal.
Services will be held on Thursday March 6th at: St Catherine Greek Orthodox Church,119 Common St, Braintree, MA 02184. Visitation 10:00 to 11:00 am, with a service to follow at 11:00 am. Burial will be private.
