Steven Minkwitz Obituary

Steven Alan Minkwitz, age of 76, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2024, following a short illness. Steve grew up in Canton and attended Canton High School. Later in life he lived in Marblehead and most recently in Ipswich.

Steve earned an undergraduate and master’s degree from UMass in mechanical engineering. His career was with Stone and Webster Engineering and the Shaw Group designing retrofits of fossil fuel energy plants that updated the facilities to meet ever changing requirements for operation and efficiency.

Steve was the beloved son of the late Russell and Ruth Minkwitz, of Canton. He was the beloved brother of Russell Minkwitz, Jr. (deceased) and wife Carol (Soule) Minkwitz, of Walpole, brother Richard Minkwitz and Debra (Lynch) Minkwitz, of Canton, sister Judy (Minkwitz) Leikauskas and Robert Leikauskas(deceased), of Hamilton, sister Barbara Minkwitz, of Mansfield, and sister Debbie (Minkwitz) Burke, of Billerica.

Steve was the beloved uncle of Rusty Minkwitz and wife Christen Minkwitz, Eric Minkwitz, Laura Minkwitz, Emilee (Minkwitz) Johnson and husband John Johnson, Rich Minkwitz and wife Sylvie Novotny, Jillian Leikauskas and husband Max Krieger, Joshua Burke and wife Laura Burke, Jacob Burke, four grandnieces and four grandnephews.

Steve was an avid woodworker and enjoyed bicycling around MA and Europe. He frequently biked to work and enjoyed cross country skiing in Europe and Colorado. He was also a member of the Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC).

His family and friends will remember him as a kind, giving, and sharing person to all he knew.

Please join us on January 11, 2025, at 11:00 am for a Celebration of Life Service at the Congregational Church of Canton followed by refreshments in the Fellowship Hall. A Private Family burial will be conducted at the Canton Corner Cemetery prior to the church service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Congregational Church of Canton, 1541 Washington St, Canton MA 02021. Donations will be for the Chapel renovation project.
