Rosemary Winandy Obituary

Rosemary Winandy passed away peacefully on February 6, 2026, in Canton, Massachusetts. Born on January 14, 1936, in Gary, Indiana. Rosemary was the beloved wife of the late Donald Winandy, who was her partner in every sense and with whom she shared a lifetime of memories. Together, they raised two daughters, Susan and Angela.

An alumna of Ball State and Indiana University, Rosemary's passion for learning led her to achieve her Master of Science in Education degree.  She pursued a career in education with breaks devoted to family. She is also a published author of children’s stories.

Rosemary  was a devout Catholic and a devoted member of St. Peter Claver in West Hartford, Connecticut. She continued to attend services there remotely through the pandemic and after her move to Massachusetts.

Rosemary loved art and bowling. She served with pride as a docent at the New Britain Museum of American Art where she forged new friendships, which she cherished. Friendships were also forged at the bowling alley, where Rosemary was a top-notch bowler.

Rosemary's family was her greatest joy. She always said that family was the most important thing in life. She was preceded in death by her parents. She was a loving sister to Eugene and his wife Anne of Texas, and she fondly remembered her late brother, Vincent and his wife Dora. She was also an aunt to beloved nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in her heart. And, of course, she dearly loved her daughters, who in turn loved her with all their hearts.

She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to cross paths with her. Her memory will be cherished, and her spirit will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Peter Claver, 47 Pleasant Street, West Hartford, CT on March 12 at 10 am.
