Obituary

Richard G. “Dick” Lane, Sr. of Canton passed away on July 11th after a three-year-long battle with Parkinsons Disease and Dementia. Born in Hyde Park, he was raised in Canton and graduated from Canton High School. In his earlier years, RIchard was the Owner and Operator of RG Lane Company. In the 80’s and 90’s Dick also owned and operated the Dairy Ranch Beef Corral in Canton. Following the store's closure, Dick owned the Concessions Stand at the Canton Rink. In his later years, Dick could be found “slinging pizza’s” at the American Legion in Canton. For the last 13 years, Richard devoted his time to the Pappas Rehabilitation Hospital for Children where he maintained the wheelchair accessible ramps and furniture. He previously coached Canton Youth Hockey and Canton Little League. Richard volunteered for the Canton Youth Association, and was a member of the Canton Town Club and the American Legion post #24. He also served as a Constable in Norfolk County for many years. Richards' love for his home was unmatched. In his free time you would find him working meticulously on his lawn or sitting on his front porch with his high school sweetheart, Dianne. 

Beloved husband of Dianne M. Lane (Cogliano). Father of Kelli-Ann Toupin and her husband Michael Toupin of Stoughton, and Brianne Lane and her partner Troy Fickett of Canton and the late Richard G. Lane Jr. of Canton. Grandfather of Taylor Lane, Ryan Lane, Madison Gooley, Joseph Toupin, Delilah Fickett and Greyson Fickett. Son of the late Gerald and Mary (Tsetsi) Lane. Brother of Douglas Lane and his wife Gail of Plymouth, Cindy Beglane and her husband Tim of Stoughton, and his late twin brother Stephen Lane of Florida. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton Thursday 4-7 pm. Liturgy of the Word will be held at St. Oscar Romero Parish Canton Friday morning at 10:00 am. Burial to be followed at Knollwood Memorial Park.
