Richard J. Carey, of Walpole, a cherished husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2024, at the age of 77. Born on March 18, 1947, in Boston, Massachusetts, Richard was the beloved son of the late Joseph and Mary (Cahill) Carey. He grew up in the close-knit community of Dorchester and was a proud graduate of English High School.
Richard's life was marked by his unwavering dedication to his family and his country. He was the loving husband of Eloise (Dawood) Carey, with whom he shared countless memories and a beautiful life. Together, they raised two sons, Brian Carey of Foxboro and Richard Carey of Mansfield, who remember their father as a beacon of love and guidance. Richard was also the brother of the late Eileen White, whose memory he held dear.
For over 40 years, Richard made his home in Walpole, where he was known as a kind and thoughtful neighbor. His commitment to service was evident through his active involvement with the VFW Dedham Post 2017, where he connected with fellow veterans and served as a testament to his time in the Army.
Those who knew Richard will fondly recall his loving nature and the genuine care he extended to everyone he met. His interests and hobbies were as diverse as his friendships, but it was his role as a family man that truly defined him.
Richard's legacy is one of love, kindness, and thoughtfulness—a legacy that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed, but the warmth of his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends. Richard J.
