Raymond s Dickie

Raymond S. Dickie, age 60, passed away peacefully at home on November 13, 2024, surrounded by his loving family after a valiant 30-year battle with brain cancer. Born in Norwood, Massachusetts, he was a lifelong resident of Canton. Ray spent his life as a testament to strength, resilience, and the enduring power of love.

Ray was the beloved husband of Debra A. Dickie (Lynch), sharing a life full of laughter and mutual support. A dedicated father, he cherished every moment spent with his children: Hannah Rae O'Mahony and her husband Cian of Stoughton, and Justin Stuart Dickie and his partner Sara Avedian of Canton. The son of Joan Dickie (Grabert) and the late Raymond Dickie, he was raised with a strong sense of family and community. His brother, Walter S. Dickie, and wife Doris of Bellingham, shared many fond memories with Ray, as did his best friend, Michael Kessler, and wife Melissa of Foxboro. His passing leaves a void in the hearts of his four-legged companions, Zeus and Loki, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who admired and loved him deeply.

Ray's educational journey began in Canton, where he graduated from Canton High School. He furthered his education at Wentworth Institute, earning a Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, which paved the way for a fulfilling career. Ray worked as a Machinist for Tooling Research Inc. in Walpole, where his skill and dedication were well respected by his colleagues and peers.

Outside of work, Ray was a man of many passions. He found joy in the simplicity of working in the yard, and his love for the outdoors extended to fishing from the beach, ice fishing, hunting, camping, skiing, and motor cross. Ray took pleasure in the quieter moments as well—playing solitaire on his handheld and watching his favorite TV shows, "The Price is Right" and "Wheel of Fortune," were cherished pastimes.

A friendly face in the community, Ray was an active member of several local organizations, including the Canton Town Club, Canton Fish & Game, and the Messinger Street Playground Committee. His engagement in these groups was not only a reflection of his interests but also of his unwavering commitment to his neighbors and the town he called home.

Raymond S. Dickie will be remembered as a friendly, courageous, and loving man who faced life's challenges with an unwavering spirit. He lived a life rich in experiences and filled with the love of those who were fortunate enough to know him. His legacy is one of perseverance, kindness, and an enduring smile that could light up any room, which was on full display when he completed his goal of walking his daughter down her wedding aisle.

As Ray's family and friends bid farewell to a man who was so much to so many, they take comfort in knowing that his strength and love will continue to guide them. Though he has left this world, the memories he created will forever be cherished and his influence will continue to be felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Ray's life was a journey of courage and love, and he will be deeply missed.
