Patricia A. Ward, a cherished pillar of the Canton community and a beacon of unwavering love and support for her family, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2025, in Canton, MA. Born in the historic city of Cambridge, MA, Patricia's journey began as the daughter of the late John and Gertrude Moynihan, and she grew up to exemplify the virtues of dedication, kindness, and selflessness that were instilled in her from a young age.
Patricia's life was a testament to enduring love, having been the beloved wife of Donald Ward for 64 years. Together, they built a life rich in joy and companionship. She was a nurturing mother who selflessly devoted her life to her children, Thomas "Ted" Ward of Canton, Brian Ward of Medfield, and Matthew Ward, along with his wife Karen, of Natick. Her love extended to her role as a sister to Barbara Moynihan of Westwood and the late John Moynihan.
Her legacy is further carried on by her adoring grandchildren, Patrick, Kevin, Colin, Madison, Nathan, and Trevor Ward, who each held a special place in her heart. Patricia's joy multiplied with the arrival of her great-grandson, Finnegan Ward, who will grow up hearing stories of his remarkable great-grandmother.
Patricia's professional life was marked by her tenure as secretary to the superintendent of schools in Canton, where she was known for her efficiency, warmth, and the genuine care she showed to everyone who walked through the doors. Embracing her role as a stay-at home mom later in life, Patricia provided a loving and nurturing home for her family, filled with laughter, wisdom, and the aroma of her delightful cooking.
Beyond her family, Patricia was a devoted member of the Legion of Mary of St. John's Parish for two decades. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she lived it out through her actions and commitment to her community. Patricia's compassion shone brightly as she served meals to those in need through Meals on Wheels, and her generosity of spirit was evident in her volunteer work at the Luce Elementary School, where she touched the lives of many young students.
Patricia's interests reflected her love for community and her desire to make a difference. Whether she was lending a listening ear or offering a helping hand, she was always there for those in need, and her presence was a source of comfort and strength to many.
