Patricia DeLello

Patricia DeLello, a cherished soul whose life was marked by devotion to her family, faith, and community, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2025, at Beth Israel Hospital in Needham. Born on August 26, 1938, in Boston, MA, she lived a full and vibrant life that left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew her.

Patricia's early years were spent in the close-knit neighborhood of Jamaica Plain, where she attended Blessed Sacrament High School. Her passion for education led her to Boston College, where she earned her BA in Mathematics through the School of Education, laying the groundwork for her initial career as a schoolteacher in the Medford School System. After dedicating herself to raising her children, Patricia returned to the workforce as a bookkeeper at Avitar in Canton, where she remained until her retirement.

A beloved wife, Patricia's heart forever held a special place for her late husband, Richard D. DeLello.  Together, they built a family that was her pride and joy. She was a proud mother to Kathleen Milne and her husband Roger, Janet LaBelle and her husband Jerry, Stephen DeLello, Richard DeLello and his wife Judy, Lisa Dugan and her husband Vito, Robert A. DeLello and his late wife Kate, Michael DeLello and his wife Amy, and James DeLello and his former wife Shannon. Patricia's love extended to her role as a doting grandmother to her seventeen grandchildren, each of whom she cherished deeply.

Patricia's dedication to her faith was evident in her active participation at St. Oscar Romero Church in Canton. As a Eucharistic Minister and a helper with the Pre Cana Program, she touched many lives with her kindness and spiritual guidance. Her involvement extended to the American Association of University Women (AAUW) in Canton, where she engaged with fellow members in supporting education and equity for women and girls.

Her interests outside her community work were simple yet brought her great pleasure. Patricia had a keen mind for puzzles and games, often found with a crossword puzzle, Sudoku, or Wordle, a testament to her love for challenges and learning. These moments of quiet reflection were a cherished part of her daily routine.

In addition to her children and grandchildren, Patricia leaves behind a legacy of love, education, and faith. She was preceded in death by her parents the late Patrick Joseph Carty and Genevieve (McCarrick) Carty and her sister, the late MaryjaneCornetta, whose memory remained dear to her.

Patricia's life was a tapestry of dedication and service, woven with the threads of love for her family, commitment to her faith, and a steadfast belief in the power of education. Her presence will be profoundly missed, yet her spirit will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her. Patricia DeLello's journey was one of purpose and passion, and her memory will be a blessing to all.

Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton Friday January 2nd from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.  Funeral Mass at St. Oscar Romero Church Saturday morning January 3rd at 10:00.  Burial Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
