Orlando DiGiampietro Obituary

Orlando A. “Lundy” DiGiampietro, 91, a long time resident of Stoughton, passed away Sunday, December 1, 2024, at Bridges by Epoch Pembroke after a period of failing health. He was the beloved husband of over 64 years of the late Edna M. (Toomey) who passed away in October 2023.

He was born in Uniontown PA and was the youngest son of the late Costantino and Antonia (Carbonetti) DiGiampietro. He was raised in Mansfield MA and was a graduate of Mansfield High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the US Coast Guard and also served in the US Army and US Air Force.

After his military service, he was a Construction Superintendent for Columbia Construction and Randall Corp and a proud member of Carpenter’s Local Union 535. He was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a longtime member of the Stoughton Zoning Board of Appeals and the MA Zoning Board of Appeals.

In retirement, he volunteered at Good Samaritan Medical Center and with the Stoughton Council on Aging, delivering for their Meals on Wheels program.

Lundy enjoyed traveling the world with his wife Edna, which was more often than not, on a cruise ship. He also enjoyed reading, fine dining, WWII movies and classical music.

He is survived by his children, Cathy DiGiampietro and her partner Tracey Juda of Freedom NH, Jean Dooley and her husband Kevin of Berkley MA, Susan Porazzo of Hanson MA and Paul DiGiampietro of Canton MA. He was the beloved Grampy of Gina DiGiampietro of Stoughton MA and Alexandra Porazzo of Hanson MA. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

Along with his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his son John and his brothers Alfred and Peter.

The family would like to offer their thanks and appreciation to the wonderful, caring staff of Bridges by Epoch Pembroke and Caring Hospice of Norwood. Everyone truly made his final days a time of comfort and peace. They will be forever grateful.

A private service was held at Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton MA.
