Norma L. ((Pescatore)) Lakin

Norma Louise Lakin  (Pescatore), age 87, of Stoughton, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2024, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton, Massachusetts surrounded by her family. Born in Boston, MA and grew up in Roslindale,

Norma was the beloved wife of the late Gardner E. Lakin Jr., and the cherished foundation of her family. She was a nurturing mother to Lisa A. Velasquez of Walpole and Debra Lakin of Stoughton. Norma's role as a grandmother was one of her most treasured, showering love upon Eric M. Velasquez and his wife Katie of Foxboro, as well as great grandson Augustus Gardner Velasquez, also of Foxboro. Though she has joined her late siblings Mary Carlo, Edith DeLeo, Cosimo "Gus" Pescatore, Josephine, Carmela, and Anna Pescatore, the legacy of their close-knit family endures.

An alumna of Roslindale High School, she went on to work for Marr Insurance in Cambridge, where she served with distinction as a Secretary.  She left work early on to become a wife and mother and was dedicated to raising her family.

She devoted herself to her home and garden, finding joy in the simple pleasures of nurturing growth and beauty in her surroundings.

She approached life with a quiet strength, and her presence was a source of comfort and stability. Norma's ability to listen with an open heart, to offer advise without judgment, and to love without condition made her a loving family member.

She will be deeply missed but remembered fondly by all whose lives she touched. Norma Louise Lakin's legacy is one of love, kindness, and the gentle strength that guides us through the challenges of life. Her memory will continue to bloom in the hearts of her family and friends, much like her home and the flowers in the garden she so lovingly tended.

Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton Thursday 5:00 to 8:00 pm.  Funeral Mass at St. Oscar Romero Church, Canton Friday morning at 10:00 am.  Burial Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton.
