Nancy Flanagan Obituary

Nancy Flanagan was gifted to this world on October 13th 1945 and was gifted back to heaven on July 13th 2024. She was born to Josephine Pasky and Daniel Kennealy and raised in Dorchester, MA with her siblings Mary Price and Daniel Kennealy, affectionately known as “Brother." She attended St. Mark's School where she made cherished memories and found lifelong friendships, including her best friends Kathy Conroy and Helen Hickey. After St. Mark's she attended Northeastern University and became a Lab Technician at New England Medical and Carney Hospital. During this time she met the love of her life and husband of 54 years, Joseph Flanagan.

They soon were married and moved to Canton, where they raised their two children: Joseph (Jay) Flanagan and Susan (Suzie) Flanagan-Almon. They created the idyllic life together, merging two families into one. Those 54 years were filled with love and laughter through Christmas Eve parties, birthdays, vacations, Fridays at Grammy's, and Sundays at Guppy’s. Joe and Nancy also made countless memories with Nancy's sister Mary and her husband Chuck; Joe's sister Gerri and her husband Arthur; Joe's cousin Jimmy and his wife Eileen; and of course their close friends Dick and Patty. They enjoyed traveling, celebrating New Year's Eve together, and nights at the Post.

Nancy was the best wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend anyone could wish for. She loved and cherished every relationship and made all those around her feel important and cared for. She showered her family with love on Christmas Eve parties, which are cherished memories to her entire family. Her unbelievable ability to upstage Santa Claus was a point of admiration for those around her--no wish at any time of the year went ungranted, even if she had to spend a month trying different sellers and scouring the internet. She received joy from giving and loving us fully, and her family cherished her in turn. Her charisma and humor made every gathering memorable.
She also enjoyed day trading and talking about stocks, thrifting at St. Vincents and visiting yard sales with Mary, shopping for Gerri, spending time at the beach with Joe, and feeding her grandchildren Owen Flanagan, Ally Flanagan, Nicholas Voulgaris, Ashley Almon, and Tyler Almon, until they couldn't eat another bite. She made them her world famous grilled cheeses and liked to instruct the kids to take one more bite, though she was ingenious in finding excuses to turn that one bite into ten. She loved her daughter-in-law Dana Harrell, son-in-law Erik Almon, as well as her nieces Christine Lavoie, Patty Price, Stacey Malloy, Katie Weiss, Nancy Sharkey, Suzie Menolloe and Denise Kennealy along with all of their families.

She would like to thank Dr. Shreib, Andrea, Myra, and the many wonderful doctors and nurses at Dana Farber and Brigham and Women's hospital who cared for her. Her love and humor will always be with us.

Visiting hours at Dockery & Thomas Funeral Home, 455 Washington St. Canton Thursday 4:00 to 7:00pm. Funeral Mass at St Oscar Romero Church, Canton Friday Morning 9:00am. Interment in Knollwood Cemetery, Canton. All are respectfully invited to attend.
