Mona Marcucella Obituary

Mona C. Marcucella, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2025. She was born in Boston to the late Anna and James F. Waldron on August 13, 1947.

She was a graduate of Notre Dame High School in Boston and furthered her education at Boston State College. For over 50 years, Mona called Norwood her home.

Mona is survived by her beloved husband of nearly 57 years, George G. Marcucella. Together they raised 2 wonderful children, Christine C. Marcucella of Walpole and Thomas M. Marcucella, along with his wife Laura, of Foxboro. Mona was a doting grandmother to Allen R. Hart III, Anna F. Marcucella, Thomas M. Marcucella II, and Michael J. Marcucella, and she cherished the memory of her late granddaughter Eleanor C. Hart.

She proudly worked all her adult life and only reluctantly stopped due to health reasons. Most recently she was an office administrator at Boston Urology Associates where she thoroughly enjoyed the friendships she built with her colleagues. Mona was the trusted accountant for a thriving local florist for many years. Mona also volunteered for Birth Right of Norwood for decades, quietly offering her support for young people planning families.

Mona was a true family-first person, from the Sunday family gatherings to the holiday get togethers, she most cherished spending time with her parents, siblings, cousins, nieces/nephews and of course her beloved grandchildren.

Mona’s love of cats was unparalleled, and she built strong companionships with her pets. Mona was also known to provide incredibly high-quality care for stray cats, and with George’s help they converted a portion of their garage to create a safe, heated enclosure for the luckiest stray cats around. Many people have said that when their time comes, they hope to be reincarnated as one of Mona’s cats!

Mona was an avid reader, she could often be found with a book in hand. Her love for gardening was evident in the vibrant flora in and around her home, and her kindness extended to all creatures, as she made sure to feed the birds, squirrels and rabbits in her home’s yard.

Mona was a loving sister to Judy Sergi and her late husband Frank of Derry, NH, the late James F. "Jeff" Waldron Jr. and his late wife Mary Ellen, and to Thomas Waldron and his wife Donna of Weare, NH. Mona was a loving niece to the late Josephine Quinn of Sharon. Mona leaves behind her beloved cousin Joan and her husband Brad Crockett of Sharon, MA. Mona was the loving cousin of the late Diana Natale and her husband Dennis of Sharon, MA.
