Born as Merlange Mimy on May 23, 1949, in Léogâne, Haiti, and passed away Friday March 14, 2025 after a long illness that began at the start of the pandemic.
On October 12, 1991, she married Georges Gracieux, marking one of the happiest days of their lives. As a devoted wife, Merlange's love and care knew no bounds. She was known for her generosity and unwavering concern for others, always ensuring the well-being of those around her. Whether family, friends, or even strangers, she often asked with heartfelt sincerity, “Did you eat?”
Her background as a pharmacist fueled her passion for health advocacy, and she never hesitated to guide others toward better health choices. Beyond her profession, Merlange was a woman of deep faith who found immense joy in her ministry as a faithful servant of Jehovah. Even through illness, she remained steadfast in her spiritual commitments, drawing strength from virtual gatherings and the support of her spiritual family.
Merlange had a gift for making others feel cherished. Her love for cooking was evident in the meals she lovingly prepared—her famous lasagna traveled from Massachusetts to New York all the way to Canada to bring comfort to loved ones. Music also brought her joy; she found solace in playing the piano. Her home was always open to others, a place where warmth and hospitality flourished.
During her illness, friends became family, offering unwavering support and care during her operation and final days—gestures that will be forever remembered with deep gratitude.
Merlange’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Leaving behind a legacy of kindness and dedication to Jehovah.
She is lovingly remembered by her siblings: Mrs. Carmela Pierre, Mrs. Marie Rose Remy and her husband, Mr. Gabriel Mimy and his wife, Mrs. Nicole Durandisse, Mrs. Ita Charles, and Mr. Kanès Mimy and his wife.
Her memory is also cherished by her nephews: Mr. Evans Durandisse, Mr. Robster Mimy and his wife, Mr. Evral Mimy and his wife; as well as her nieces: Mrs. Carine Rémy, Mrs. Martine Lormil and her husband, Mrs. Micha St. Hilaire and her husband, Mrs. Nadja Remy, Mrs. Dominique Delva and her husband, Mrs. Sybil Mimy Wells and her husband, Mrs. Loyola Mimy Barnett and her husband, Mrs. Shirley Remy and her husband, Mrs. Natalie Dorestan and her husband, Mrs. Ingrid Thebaud and her husband, Ms. Stephania Charles, and Mrs. Sabrina Vanier and her husband.
She will also be fondly remembered by her cousins: Mrs. Gerty Dauphin, Mrs. Yolette Vericain, Mrs. Yanick Ferdinand, Mr. Sammuel Ferdinand, and Mr. Adrien Ferdinand, Violaine, Yva, Nancy, Frantz and Antoine Kernisant.
Merlange’s life was one of service to others—both in her professional work as a pharmacist and in her unwavering faith as a servant of Jehovah. Her gentle demeanor, care, and unconditional love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
