Mary Ann Masciola (née Heavey) of Canton, MA passed away peacefully on June 30, 2025 at South Shore Hospital. She was 98 years old. Mary was born in Ballygar, County Galway, Ireland on October 10, 1926 to Peter and Ann Heavey. Mary immigrated to the United States through Ellis Island at the age of 22. In 1954 she married Horace Masciola. Together they shared 62 wonderful years of marriage, building a life rooted in love, family, and faith. They made their home in Roslindale for more than four decades before settling in Canton in 1995. Mary’s life was defined by her deep devotion to her family. She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her kitchen was her castle, and she put her magic touch on many dishes, especially her amazing lasagna. She also loved to knit and supported the Linus Project Charity with donations of over 200 blankets for the homeless. Her beloved husband Horace passed away in 2017 at the age of 96. She is survived by her children: John Masciola of Boxboro, Peter Masciola of Florida, Annmarie Becker of Canton, and Theresa Ridderhoff of Virginia. Mary was the proud grandmother of nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her six cherished brothers in Ireland and California. A private interment will be held at St. Michael’s Cemetery on August 4, 2025. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Canton Senior Center, where Mary loved to play bingo.
