Mary M. Fontana (Wilson) of Canton passed away June 8th at St. Patrick’s Manor in Framingham at the age of 77. Born in Boston, she was raised in Dorchester in St. William’s Parish and graduated from Monsignor Ryan High School. She worked for the IRS in Boston for 10 years, where she met her late husband of 39 years, Vincent. Mary and Vincent made their home in Canton where they raised their beloved son Michael. Mary later worked part time for Massasoit Community College in Canton for 30 years before retiring; for many years she was the friendly face at the admissions counter welcoming new students. Always active in the Catholic Church, she was a member of the St. Gerard Majella Altar Guild for many years, a Eucharistic Minister at St. Oscar Romero Parish in Canton, and a member of the Canton Catholic Women’s Club. Beloved wife of the late Vincent J. Mother of Michael Fontana and his wife Lauren, of Sutton. Grandmother to Luke Roode of Worcester MA. Mary is survived by many nieces, nephews and grand-nieces. Daughter of the late Howard and Frances Wilson; brother of the late Hilary and Robert Wilson.
Mary will be fondly remembered for her kindness, generous spirit, sense of humor, and her loving nature.
