Martha Mezger Obituary

Martha Elaine Mezger, of Canton passed away peacefully on June 28, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on April 19, 1942, in Waterville, ME, she was the loving daughter of Russell and Gwendolyn Loud, and the devoted partner to her beloved husband of 49 years, Richard "Dick" Mezger.

Martha's life was a testament to the power of love, family, and music. She was the heart and soul of her family, a role she cherished above all others. Martha was the proud mother of Tony Glazier and his wife Jennifer of Framingham, Steven Glazier of Plymouth, Gayle Touchstone of Vineyard Haven, and Gwen Taibi and her partner Lyndon Hicks of Lexington. She was also the proud stepmother of Daniel Vincent Tlhalefo and of Evette Lewis and her husband Charles.  Her joy was multiplied as she embraced the role of grandmother to Ryan, Eric, Shawn, Brian, Gretchen Gallager, Ben, Charlotte, and Catherine. Each of her grandchildren was touched by her kindness, her wisdom, and the melodies she would often share.

After graduating from high school, Martha attended secretary school, which led to a fulfilling career as a secretary.  Martha moved to Malden from Waterville, Maine with her four children in a Volkswagen Bug on a hot summer day – she was on a mission to start a more fulfilling life for herself and her children!  Her professional life was marked by diligence, efficiency, and the congeniality that endeared her to her colleagues. It was through her professional life that she first met her beloved husband Dick. She was also an office administrator with many talents.

Martha's love for music was not just a hobby; it was a cornerstone of her life. She was an active and dedicated member of the Sharon Community Chorus for 13 years, where her voice resonated with the joy and passion she felt for every note. Her musical talents also extended to her church's choir, where she shared both her faith and her love for song.

Being a grandmother was perhaps Martha's most treasured role. She instilled in her grandchildren the importance of family, the joy of music, and the value of community. Her presence at family gatherings was always a source of comfort and delight, as she shared stories and songs that will continue to echo through the generations.

Martha is preceded in death by her siblings, Carol Loud and Donald Loud, who no doubt welcomed her with open arms. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive through the lives of those she touched with her gentle grace and melodious spirit.

As Martha's final curtain falls, we celebrate a life beautifully composed—a symphony of love, care, and harmony. She has left an indelible mark on the world, and though her physical presence is no longer with us, her melody will forever play in the hearts of those she loved. Martha Elaine Mezger's story is one of a life well-lived and well-loved, a life that will continue to inspire and bring joy to those who remember her.
