Mark C Ronayne

Mark Ronayne, of Bridgewater, passed away surrounded by his family on June 19, 2026, in Boston, Massachusetts. He was 74 years old.

Born on January 3, 1952, in Norwood, Massachusetts, Mark was the son of the late Maurice and Eleanor Ronayne. He was raised in Canton and graduated from Canton High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, proudly serving his country for four years, with assignments in California and Washington, D.C.. These experiences helped build the foundation for a career and life grounded in responsibility, hard work, and quiet dedication.

Mark proudly served the Canton Police Department for 32 years, retiring in 2012 with the rank of Sergeant. Throughout his distinguished career, he embodied the values of integrity, commitment, and public service. Those who worked alongside him knew him as a devoted officer who took great pride in serving his community.

For the past 47 years, Mark called Bridgewater home, where he built a life centered on family, friendship, and community. He was the beloved husband of Gail Ronayne and the devoted father of Mark Ronayne and his wife, Katherine, of Bridgewater; Brian Ronayne and his wife, Kara, of Attleboro; and Adam Ronayne and his wife, Amy, of Bridgewater.

Mark's greatest joy was his family. He was a proud and loving “Grampie” to Colin, Luke, Lola, Maddox, Gia, Ivy, and Mason. Nothing brought him more happiness than attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, cheering them on, and sharing in their accomplishments.

He was the brother of the late Elizabeth “Betsy” Persson, the late Maurice “Maury” Ronayne, and the late Ellen Ronayne.

An avid golfer, Mark treasured time spent outdoors and enjoyed the companionship of family and friends. He was also a longtime member of the Canton Town Club, where he valued the friendships and community connections he made over the years.

Mark will be remembered as a man of steady character, unwavering devotion to his family, and quiet strength. As a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, he touched the lives of many and leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and kindness.

His memory will be forever cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Funeral Mass at St. Oscar Romero Parish, Canton, on Thursday, July 2, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be private for the family.
