Marilyn Henley Obituary

Marilyn Ann (Riordan) Henley, passed away after a brief illness on December 7, 2023, in Canton, Massachusetts. Born on August 11, 1943, Marilyn's life was filled with the joys of family and the warmth of countless cherished moments. Marilyn was the beloved wife of the late Peter D. Henley, with whom she shared a beautiful journey of 57 years, until his passing in 2019. She was a loving sister to Joanne Sullivan and her late husband Leo of Easton, the late Timothy (Tiny) Riordan and his late wife Anne of Canton, the late Carol Riordan, and the late Bill Riordan and his wife Claire of Canton. Marilyn's legacy continues through her three daughters, Patricia Heinle (Dr. Edward III) of Danville, PA, Julie Noone (Stephen) of North Andover, and Joanne Gover of North Easton. Her life was further enriched by her nine grandchildren (Danielle, Edward IV, Molly, Timothy, Brian, Jacquey, Erin, Megan, and Peter), who all adored her attention, and by her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and the extended "chosen" family she gathered along the way. Marilyn's gentle presence was a source of comfort and joy to all who knew her. Her capacity to accept and love all whom she met knew no bounds, and she was often the quiet strength behind her family's happiest moments. She found pleasure in learning new card and board games, which she would eagerly try to win, traveling and hearing of others’ travels, and spending time at the beach in Wareham watching her grandchildren play and her husband Peter quahog. Those who had the privilege of knowing Marilyn will remember her for the generosity of her spirit. Marilyn's life was a testament to putting others before oneself. She would go out of her way to help others without being asked. She was constantly doing things for everyone and never thought of herself. Her actions spoke louder than words, and through them, she taught the value of selflessness. She had an ability to listen, truly listen, to the stories, dreams, and concerns of others, providing comfort and guidance through every situation. She provided a haven of acceptance and unconditional love. Her love was her gift to the world, and it continues to resonate in the hearts of those she cherished. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 10 AM on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Saint Oscar Romero Catholic Church, 700 Washington Street, Canton, MA 02021.
