Marie "Aznie" Louis Obituary

Marie Yolette “Aznie” Louis, a devoted mother, beloved grandmother, cherished sister, and great friend, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2025, in Boston, MA. Born on March 6, 1952, in Trou-Du-Nord, Haiti, she was the daughter of Joseph G. Louis and Rejeanne Lambert and grew up surrounded by the vibrant culture and resilient spirit of her native country.

Marie journeyed to the United States at the age of 34, where she embraced new opportunities with grace, determination, courage and strength. As a single mom, her singular purpose was to make a better life for her three daughters and she was able to provide for them with only the assistance of her family.

She raised them to follow her example of hard work, discipline, and devotion to family. Marie was the matriarch of her family and her legacy is carried on by her daughters; Rose Darline Etienne of Hyde Park, Bervelyne Louis-Rupp and son in-law Kenneth of Stoughton, and Edwige Louis-Frost and son in-law Kevin of Arvada, CO. She showered love upon her grandchildren Tajalane Yolette Firmin, Ethan Nicolas Destin, Connor Joseph Frost, Cora Faith Frost, Carina Marie Frost, and remembered fondly the late Elijah Malik Etienne who she shared a birthday with. Marie leaves behind her siblings, Antoinette Jasmine Louis St. Juste of Brockton, Marlene Survile of New Jersey, Margarette Louis of Hyde Park, Gary Louis of New York and more nephews and cousins than can be counted. Everyone in her family will miss her dearly.

Marie will be remembered for her serving nature and love of adventure. Cooking large meals was her passion, a way to express her love and share her heritage with those around her. Her kitchen was a place of warmth, where her delicious meals brought fellowship and happiness to family and friends. She found pleasure in shopping, discovering new treasures to share. Traveling was another of Marie's joys, as she relished the opportunity to explore new places with her family. She had a natural gift for helping others and often extended her hand to those in need. Her kindness and compassion knew no bounds, and the impact she made on her community will not be forgotten.

Marie lived a life full of purpose, sacrifice, and laughter and was the embodiment of stubborn strength and resilience. She overcame numerous challenges from migrating to a new country to disabilities that she would not allow to hold her back. Her presence was a gift to all, and her memory will continue to inspire and guide us. Her wisdom will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love and perseverance will live on through her family and the countless lives she enriched.

Her family invites relatives and friends to attend a visitation on Thursday, June 12th from 4-7 p.m. at Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home, 455 Washington St. Canton. Her Celebration-of-Life service will be held on Friday, June 13th at 9 a.m. at the Temple Adventiste De Brockton, 235 Court St. Brockton. She will be buried at Blue Hill Cemetery and all guests are welcome to come to a reception back at the church.
