Marie J Connolly

Marie J. Connolly, a longtime Dorchester resident, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2026, at the age of 96. Marie was living at The Ellis Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, in Norwood, surrounded by compassionate nurses and staff whose kindness meant so much to her and her family.

Born on July 10, 1929, in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of Joseph and Marie Federico and sister of the late Sally Federico.

Marie met her husband, the late William Connolly, while working at the Boston Fish Pier, along with his children, Pat Doherty, Billy Connolly, Margaret Burke, and Mary Whelen. Marie and Bill later welcomed their son, Christopher, who became the center of her world. Her role as a mother was one she embraced with deep love, and she took great pride in her son. She made sure he was always cared for and, most importantly, that he always had enough to eat.

Marie was a woman who appreciated the simple pleasures in life. She loved shopping for a sale and any chance to go out for breakfast, especially somewhere with bottomless coffee.

For the past 30 years, she lived at “the condo” in Dorchester, where she formed lasting friendships with neighbors who became like family, always looking out for her.

Marie lived a life filled with love, family, and quiet happiness. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, especially for her famous bean dip.

She is survived by her son, Chris Connolly, and his wife, Deb, of Canton, as well as her grandchildren, Jake and Maggie Connolly.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Saturday, April 11, at Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home in Canton at 1:15 p.m. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 12:15 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. Burial will be private and held at a future date.
