Marie Lila Augustin (née Delva), a beacon of kindness and devout faith, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2025, at Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston. Born on May 7, 1952, in the vibrant town of Verettes, Haiti. Marie's journey of 72 years was marked by an unwavering commitment to her family, her work, and her faith.
Marie's early years in Haiti laid a strong foundation for her life. She was born, raised, and educated in her beloved homeland, where she developed a deep appreciation for her culture and the importance of community. In her later years, Marie made Randolph, Massachusetts, her home for 33 beautiful years. It was here that she continued to nurture her family, build friendships, and contribute to the community that she held so dear.
Family was the cornerstone of Marie's life. She was the beloved wife of Elie Augustin, and together they shared a life filled with love and mutual respect. Marie was a pillar of strength and guidance for her children, Josue Alexandér of Texas, Hansen Augustin, Melissa Augustin, and Darrell (Channon) Augustin, all of whom made their homes in Massachusetts. Her nurturing spirit extended to her grandchildren, Naiya Ban, Jubilee Joseph, and Meliyah Joseph, who will carry her legacy of love and compassion forward. Marie was also a cherished sister to Marie Rose Delva of Florida, Raynold Delva, Prosper Delva and Jeanine Delva of Haiti, and a caring aunt to Danielle, Max, Emmanuel and Rachel Delva. Her familial bonds were a source of immense pride and joy throughout her life.
Marie's professional life was dedicated to serving others through her work as a Nursing Assistant. She provided care and comfort to many at the VNA in Boston, Helping Hands, and the Quincy Rehabilitation Center. Her dedication to her work was a testament to her caring nature, and her presence was a comfort to those she served.
A woman of great faith, Marie devoted herself to her church and the spiritual community that she found there. Her faith was a guiding light in her life, providing strength and solace through the years. Marie's love for her faith was matched by her love for the world around her. She found joy in simple pleasures like watching movies, gardening, walking and immersing herself in the beauty of nature.
Marie's life was characterized by her kind heart and faith-filled spirit. She approached every day with grace and treated everyone she met with respect and warmth. Her positive outlook on life and ability to see the good in others were traits that endeared her to many.
As we remember Marie, we celebrate a life well-lived—a life filled with purpose, love, and an enduring faith that inspired all who knew her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. Marie L. Augustin's spirit will continue to guide us, just as her kindness has forever imprinted on our souls. Her departure from this world is not an end, but a transition to an eternal life where she will undoubtedly continue to watch over us with the same love and tenderness she so generously shared during her time on earth.
