Maria Pia Crugnale Obituary

Maria Pia (Musto) Crugnale, known affectionately as Pia to her friends and family, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on January 29th, 2024. Born in Montefalcione, Italy, Pia brought with her a gentle warmth, a kind smile and sincere gratitude to every life she touched. Her journey came to a gentle end after a brave battle with vascular dementia.

Pia's life was one of dedication, love, and laughter. She shared a beautiful life of 60 years  with her husband, John Crugnale, who has been her companion through life's many chapters.

Together, they raised a family that was not just large in number, but immense in love. Pia's legacy continues through her children: John and Diann Crugnale of Norton MA, Juanita and Peter Duserick of Canton MA, Tina and Rich Fisher of Harvard MA, Rossano and Michelle Crugnale of Sharon MA, Carmine and Sharon Crugnale of Canton MA, Lisa and Chris Potter of Madison CT, and Paul and Krissy Crugnale of Stoughton MA.

The bond Pia shared with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was nothing short of magical. She was a cherished Nonna to Nicholas, Kayla, Alayna, Brianna, Hailee, Cole, Riley, Jacob, Isabella, Holly, Cassidy, Dallas, Brock, Chase, Gianni, Sadie, Charlotte, Hannah, and Jack. Her presence in their lives was that of joy, wisdom and friendship, guiding them through the many facets of life.

Pia's siblings held a special place in her heart. She is survived by her loving sister Maria Catalano of Roslindale MA, and brother Emilio Musto of Stoughton MA. She is predeceased by her brothers Alessandro, Mario, Nicola, Gaetano, Carlo and Giovanni as well as her parents, Serafina and Carmine Musto, who instilled in her the values of family and hard work. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

In partnership with her husband, John, Pia's entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly as she poured her energy and passion into building the family business, Canton Masonry. Her involvement in the business was more than a career; it was a testament to her dedication to her family's livelihood and her commitment to building a dream with her husband. She had an amazing ability to multi-task so no priority was ever overlooked, caring for her family, taking care of business matters and finding time with friends and extended family.

Beyond her professional achievements, Pia's interests painted a picture of a woman who lived life to the fullest. She found joy in the simple pleasures of cooking, an art she mastered with the same elegance and flair that she brought to dancing and singing. Her kitchen was a haven of delicious aromas and a gathering place for those she loved.

Pia's laughter was infectious and her love for her family was the cornerstone of her existence. She was a matriarch in the truest sense, providing not just for the material needs of her family but nurturing their souls with her love, generosity, compassion, support and affection.

Pia will be remembered for her laughter, her love, her wisdom, and her kindness, that was a testament to the beauty of embracing each day with open arms and a full heart. She will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
