Margaret (Peggy) McDonagh, 8o years, passed away peacefully after a long illness on April 21, 2025, in Canton, MA, surrounded by her loving family. Born in the quaint village of Moyvane, Co. Kerry Ireland, she emigrated to the Unites States over 60 years ago. She settled in South Boston before moving to Canton 35 years ago. 

Peggy's life was a testament to the power of family, heritage, and unwavering kindness. Daughter of the late James and Hannah Doyle, she is survived by her devoted husband, Michael P. McDonagh, with whom she shared a lifetime of joy and companionship and by her children, Ann Marie Ryan and her husband James of Pembroke, and Michael J. McDonagh and his partner Jaime Maher of Pembroke. Peggy's love extended to her cherished grandson, Sean McDonagh and his fiancé Courtney Alba of Hanson, who brought her immeasurable pride and happiness. Peggy was the the dear sister of Teresa Hanley, Breda Kelly, Mena Cunningham, Julia Dooley, Patsy Hanley, and the late Maureen McSkane, Michael Doyle, and Betty Doyle. She will be remembered fondly by numerous brother and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 

Peggy's early years in Ireland laid the foundation for a life characterized by devotion to her loved ones and an enduring connection to her Irish roots. She was an avid fan traditional Irish music, singing and dancing, as well as reading, baking Irish bread, word search puzzles and watching silly movies and videos with her son-in-law Jamie. She was a past member of the Irish Cultural Center where she took great pleasure in participating in events and activities that celebrated her Irish culture. 

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 16th at 11 a.m. at the Gates of Heaven Church, 615 East 4th St. Boston, MA 02127, with interment at a later date in her beloved childhood home in Ireland. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hAnam.
