Lucy G. Kelleher, age 101, a cherished soul known for her loving nature and friendly demeanor, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2025, at the Life Care Center in Attleboro. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, Lucy was a beacon of warmth and kindness throughout her life.
Raised in Hyde Park, Lucy was a proud graduate of Hyde Park High School, where she formed many lasting friendships and developed a strong sense of community. Her educational journey laid the foundation for a life characterized by dedication and service to others.
Lucy was the beloved wife of the late John D. Kelleher, with whom she shared a life full of love and devotion. Together, they created a family that was the center of Lucy's world. She was a loving mother to Joyce Mahoney of Mansfield, John Kelleher and his wife Karen of Norton, and Paul Kelleher of Florida. Her role as a grandmother was one she cherished deeply, and she leaves behind a legacy of love and joy in her five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Professionally, Lucy spent many years serving the community as a Clerk at Starr Market. Her hard work, reliability, and friendly smile were a staple of the shopping experience for countless customers, and her colleagues respected her for her dedication and warmth.
Lucy's life was enriched by her interests and the simple pleasures she found in everyday activities. She lived in Canton for many years, having previously resided in Stoughton. Her love for gardening was evident in the beautiful blooms that adorned her home each spring. Her passion for cooking brought family and friends together around the table to enjoy delicious meals and memorable conversations. Lucy also found great joy in listening to Italian music, which often filled her home with its lively and heartwarming tunes.
Those who knew Lucy will remember her as a woman who embodied love and friendliness in every aspect of her life. She was a person who made everyone feel welcome and valued, and her presence was a source of comfort and happiness to all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Funeral Mass at St. Oscar Romero Church, Canton Thursday February 6th at 10:00 am. Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton Thursday morning prior to the Mass from 8:30 to 9:30 am. Burial to follow at Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton.
