Louise Damon

Louise Antoinette DiGennaro, known lovingly as Weezie, lived a life marked by purpose, compassion, steady strength, and service. She passed away on July 1, 2026, at the age of 74.

Born on January 23, 1952, in Dorchester, Massachusetts, she earned a bachelor's degree in sociology from Regis College and a master's degree in social work from Tulane University — a path that reflected both her heart and her calling. 

Louise dedicated more than 35 years to working with blinded veterans for the Veterans Administration. Her service was never simply a job, it was a personal commitment to ensure veterans received the utmost in proper care.

Louise also knew how to enjoy life. In the winters, you were likely to find her skiing in Colorado or the White Mountains of New Hampshire. In Florida, her days were filled with walks through her community with friends, or along Ponte Vedra Beach collecting sharks' teeth. Golf was her favorite pastime and she played at popular golf destinations across the country. She created lasting memories with her sister traveling through Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. But she treasured nothing more than time spent with family.

For more than five years, Louise battled her own health issues, yet she remained focused on helping the friends and family around her, a true reflection of the compassion and service that defined her life.

She is survived by her husband, Dennis; her son, Christian; her daughter-in-law, Chiara; her sister, Pamela; and her brother, Anthony. Each of them carries forward a part of her story, her wisdom, and her love.

Louise lived with heart, led with compassion, and loved with sincerity. She will be missed by the many close friends, family members, and lives she touched along her journey.

Relatives and friends are invited to a funeral service at Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home on Thursday, July 9th at 11:30 a.m. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 10-11:30 a.m. Burial at St. Joseph's Cemetery in West Roxbury.
