Louise Berlin, of Newton, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2025, at Hebrew Senior Life in Boston, at the age of 100. Born on June 16, 1925, in Boston, MA, Louise's led a long and happy life of devotion to her family and an enduring love for her wide community of friends and acquaintances.
Raised in Brookline, MA, Louise graduated Brookline High School and went on to graduate from Miami University of Ohio. After college, Louise met her husband Sumner and they moved to Marblehead, MA, where they raised their two children. In 1996, she made Newton her home, where she would live for the remainder of her life.
Louise was the beloved wife of the late Sumner Berlin, and a nurturing mother to Lisa Berlin Sazer and her husband Morris, as well as Marc Berlin and his wife Heidi. She was the adored grandmother Sam Sazer and Dan Sazer and their wives, and the proud great-grandmother of three beautiful children.
Louise was admired for her impeccable taste in fashion and home décor. She was also cherished by her many friends for her great storytelling talents and her ability to truly listen. Her conversations were never one-sided; she always asked questions that showed a genuine interest in the lives of others.
Some of her favorite things were spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; enjoying the beaches of Ogunquit, Maine, and Marblehead, MA; cheering on Tom Brady and the Patriots; and reading the New York Times every day.
Louise is predeceased by her loving husband Sumner, her dear sister Irma Lager (Arthur), and her parents Ruth (Perlmutter) Miller and David Miller. Her husband and father were the longtime florists at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Boston.
She is survived by her daughter Lisa Berlin Sazer (Morris), her son Marc Berlin (Heidi), her cherished grandchildren Sam Sazer (Molly) and Dan Sazer (Madeline), and her three great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Chapel Service at Sharon Memorial Park in Sharon on Thursday, December 4th at 1:00 pm.
