Lixuan Huang (黄丽璇), age 56, passed away on May 5, 2024, at Good Samaritan Medical Center, surrounded by her adoring family. She was born November 27, 1967, in Canton (Guangzhou), China, the daughter of Fenghua Liang (梁凤华) & Songhua Huang (黄颂华) and sister of Wan Man Wong (黄允文).
She graduated from the University of Science & Technology of China (USTC), Class of 1985, with a Bachelor’s degree in Analytical Chemistry. Following graduation, she moved to the Boston area to pursue her Master’s degree in Chemistry at the University of Massachusetts Boston. After completing graduate school, she stayed in Quincy and married Leslie Zhang on December 5, 1994. They welcomed two daughters into the world and decided to settle down in Sharon, Massachusetts shortly after.
In her early career, she worked diligently as a chemist at Copley Pharmaceutical in Canton, MA and Tedor Pharma in Boston & Woonsocket, RI. As her vision deteriorated due to retinitis pigmentosa, she transitioned to working from home as a part-time language interpreter and stay-at-home mother in order to continue to support her family. Despite her struggles, her dedication to her family was unwavering.
Beyond her career, she was a cherished member of the Chinese Church of Metro-South Boston and was baptized in April 2013. She was also a loyal member of LA Fitness and enjoyed swimming there several times a week. At home, she enjoyed arts and crafts to beautify the spaces around her, gardening various vegetables and flowers, walking around the neighborhood and baking different types of bread and buns. She had a childlike spirit, approaching each activity she did with excitement and optimism.
Surviving in addition to her husband, Leslie Guoling Zhang (张国灵), are her daughters, Hannah Zhang (张海琳) and Emily Zhang (张海琴); her parents, Fenghua Liang (梁凤华) and Songhua Huang (黄颂华); and brother, Wan Man Wong (黄允文).
Lixuan’s legacy is one of warmth, caring, kindness, honesty and humbleness. She will be missed dearly, but her spirit will be kept alive in the memories and hearts of those who knew her as well as the lives she has been able to save via organ donation.
