Lawrence G. Wenger age 87 of Canton passed away peacefully on March 6, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in Boston, Larry has lived in Canton since 1963. He was an Army veteran and a graduate of Northeastern University. He worked at Polaroid as an engineer for 45 years before retiring. During his retirement years, he worked at West Marine where he shared his love of boating and fishing with customers and coworkers. Larry was an original member of the Sharon Roadrunners Club where he enjoyed running locally and completed several marathons. He was an avid boater and fisherman and greatly enjoyed summering in Wareham and many wonderful trips to Aruba. Larry was an active parishioner at St. Oscar Romero Church, working with the church's bereavement group and daily rosary group, providing comfort and support to many. In addition to his religious and veteran affiliations, Larry enjoyed the camaraderie and activities at the Canton Senior Center, where he was a familiar and friendly face. His presence there will be deeply missed by friends and staff who came to know him as a kind-hearted and engaging individual.
Larry was the loving husband of the late Margaret C. (Sullivan) and beloved father to Michael and his wife Karen of Carver, Karen of Canton, Daniel and his wife Heather of New Jersey, David and his fiancée Anne of Ireland, and the late Mary Ann Wenger. He was a proud and much loved Papa to 14 grandchildren. He was the son of the late Edward and Ella Wenger and brother of the late Edward Wenger.
Visiting hours will be held at Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at St. Oscar Romero on Wednesday at 10 a.m. Burial at Canton Corner Cemetery.
