Julie Creel, a beacon of kindness and intelligence, adorned with unwavering faith, departed from this world on February 18th, 2026, in Boston, Massachusetts. Born on February 2nd, 1946, in the heart of Dorchester, MA, Julie's life was a testament to service and compassion, traits that defined her as much as her love for singing, dancing, and the simple joys of life. Julie's journey was marked by an unshakeable commitment to her Christian faith, which guided her through a lifetime of helping others.
She joined the Carmelite Order of the Ancient and Infirmed at the age of 17 and stayed for 6 years. In the meantime she started her nursing degree in Washington Hospital in Maryland and completed her degree at Mass Bay Community College. She was an Occupational Nurse for the Army in Fairbanks, Alaska from 1976-1979 and also was a school nurse for the high school in Fairbanks. Later she was a Nurse for the VNA in Somerville in the 70's.
As a nurse and social worker, she touched countless lives with her gentle care and wise counsel. Her dedication to her work was only matched by her involvement in church activities, where she lived out her beliefs through action, offering support and kindness to all those around her.
Her love for music and the arts was a wellspring of joy, often finding her humming the tunes of her favorite musicals or moving gracefully to a song that touched her heart. Julie's passion extended to the outdoors, where she could be found walking her beloved dogs or embracing the simple pleasure of a shopping trip, always with a warm smile for those she met.
Julie was very widely read with respect to the Catholic Faith and was a devoted Catholic and attended Mass at Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton and St. Oscar Romero Church in Canton.
She lived by the words of the well-known hymn, "Amazing Grace," which says, "I once was lost, but now am found; was blind, but now I see." This quote, attributed to John Newton, resonated deeply with Julie, encapsulating her belief in redemption and the transformative power of faith.
Julie's life was a living example of Christ's love, embodying the virtues of kindness and intelligence in all her endeavors. Her faith-filled spirit was a source of comfort and inspiration to everyone she encountered. Her absence will be deeply felt by the community she so faithfully served, yet her legacy of love and service will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those she has left behind.
As we bid farewell to Julie Creel, we take comfort in the knowledge that her life was a reflection of the divine love she so fervently believed in. Her memory will be cherished, her contributions to the world celebrated, and her soul, now at peace, will forever be a guiding light for those who had the privilege of knowing her.
