John F. Ruane III, age 55, of Canton, passed away on July 18th at home surrounded by his loving friends and family. Born in Norwood, John was a lifelong resident of Canton and graduated from Canton High School and Western New England College with a degree in Criminal Justice. John was a proud Veteran of the United States Army and worked for many years on the Canton Police Department retiring as a Detective. He was a coach for Canton Little League and was involved in starting and fundraising for the Galvin Middle School football team. In his free time John enjoyed hunting, woodworking, working on the house, camping and listening to music around the fire.
John is survived by his beloved wife Renee I. (Hessling). Loving father of John F. Ruane IV of Canton and Trevor Ruane and his wife Maggie of Quincy. Devoted son of John and Nancy Ruane of Marstons Mills. Brother of Cindy LeBlanc and her husband Bob of Mansfield and Kathy Delbene and her husband Kenny of Peabody. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held at Dockray and Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton Sunday 3:00 to 7:00 pm. A Congregational Service will be held at St. Oscar Romero Church, Canton Monday morning at 11:00 am. Military Honors will follow the service at Canton Corner Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the Canton Veteran’s Service Department 801 Washington St. Canton, MA 02021.
