John Cammarata Obituary

John R. Cammarata, aged 62, of Stoughton, Massachusetts, passed away suddenly on August 12, 2025, at Boston Medical Center - South in Brockton.  Born on November 11, 1962, in Norwood, he was raised in Canton.

John was the beloved son of Frances Cammarata of Stoughton and the late John R. Cammarata. He grew up in their large household as a caring brother to Aurora Cammarata of Newport, RI, Lisa Frisbie and her husband Alex of Stoughton, Dominic Cammarata and his wife Carolyn of Canton, Tracy Homer and her husband John of Easton, and Anthony Cammarata and his wife Julie of Frisco, CO. His role as an uncle was one he embraced with great joy and much love, forming special bonds with his nieces and nephews, Joseph Mula and wife Susan, Nicole Nicotera and husband Mike, Jaclyn Mula and partner Jon, Sadie Homer and partner Jason, and Madelyn Homer. John also held the cherished title of great-uncle to Audrey Mula, Stella Nicotera, and Carmelo Dunston.

John, known as JJ to his close family and friends, always put family first. He loved any time spent with his large extended family whether it was camping, going to a concert, whitewater rafting or skiing up north and in Colorado. Like all good Italians, he always enjoyed a great meal. He especially loved the many family trips together over the years to Walt Disney World as a child and as an uncle and great uncle. John was an avid Boston sports fan and loved the Patriots, Red Sox and Bruins. On any given Sunday, he would loudly declare his love for their heroics or despair at their lackluster performance. Such is the life of a committed Boston sports fan.

John was a kind and giving person. JJ often declared how much he loved his brothers and sisters, and how life would be more challenging without them. John was especially devoted to his mother. He assisted those in need whether it was running errands for a home bound person, giving a ride home in the middle of the night to a co-worker, taking an extra shift at Domino’s to give a colleague a needed day off. He was that guy. His sudden departure leaves a void in the lives of his family and friends, but the memories of his loud laughter and constant love for them all will remain as a comforting presence. He will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing and loving him.
