John Leonard Obituary


John Dutch Vincent Leonard passed away at his home in Canton on March 29th he was 82. Born and raised in Canton, Dutch attended St. John School and graduated from Canton High School. He enlisted in the Navy during World War II and served our country as an Aviation Machinists Mate Third Class. Upon his Honorable Discharge from the Navy in June of 1946, Dutch attended Suffolk University. Mr. Leonard worked for the Norfolk County Corrections Department and the Canton Police Dept. before becoming a self-employed builder in the Cape Cod and Canton areas. Dutch was also an Inspector for Stream Pipe Installations. He also served as Warden for Clerks elections. Dutch enjoyed traveling in his R.V. and loved his collies.
Husband of Pauline Quinn and the late Gloria (Martin). Beloved father of Peter M. of Canton, Linda J. Cunningham of NH & Monica J. Kiley of Mansfield. Brother of Patrick Leonard of Braintree, Ann Brindley of Canton, Margaret Fitzmorris of PA and the late Elizabeth Broderick & Mary McColgan. Also survived by 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandsons. Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton, Tuesday 4-8 pm. Funeral mass Gerard Majella Church Canton, Wednesday morning at 10:00. Interment private. In lieu of flowers donations in Johns name may be made to the Arthritis Foundation 29 Crafts St. Suite 450 Newton, MA 02458-1287 or Good Samaritan Hospice 3 Edgewater Dr. Norwood, MA 02062.
