Joanne B. Praik passed away peacefully on January 23, 2025, at the age of 101, in Stoughton, MA. Born on March 2, 1923, in Everett, MA., she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Bello and grew up in Everett, MA., where she graduated from Everett High Schol. Joanne was the wife of the late Buhl Praik, and a loving mother who was predeceased by her children, J. David Praik and Harriet “Georgi” Sullivan. She was also the sister of the late Helen Bressler and the late Mary Ciulla.
Joanne's life was one of dedication and service, as evidenced by her professional journey. She worked at Schrafft's Candy, J.M. Fields, and for many years at St. Basil's rectory in Methuen, MA. Her work ethic and commitment to her roles were greatly admired by her colleagues and those she served in the community.
Hard work and family were cornerstones of Joanne's life. The values and knowledge she gained in her early years continued to influence her as she moved to Salem, NH. where she raised her family and became an valued part of the community.
Joanne was a woman of many interests and passions. She was an active member of the Herb Club of Salem, where she enjoyed good fellowship and fun. Joanne's spirituality was also a significant aspect of her life. She was part of numerous prayer groups in the Salem area, where she found strength and solace in her faith.
Her legacy of love and friendship extended beyond her immediate family. She is survived by her daughter in law, Arlene Grasso of Canton, MA. adoring grandchildren, Jillian Praik of Derry, NH., Kevin Praik of Canton, MA. and Elissa Praik of Canton, MA. as well as her nieces and nephews, especially Lillian Ciulla and Catherine Byrne of West Bridgewater, MA. Each of them will always remember her love of family and charitable nature. Joanne also shared a profound bond with her best friend, Edna Carvotta, who was like a sister to her. Together, they shared countless memories and supported each other through life's many chapters.
In her centennial-plus years, Joanne witnessed incredible changes in the world, yet her values of family, service, and love remained steadfast. She was a guiding light to her family, a friend to many, and a cherished member of her community. Her spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Joanne B. Praik leaves left behind a legacy of love that will continue to grow in the hearts of those she touched. Joanne's journey on this earth has come to a peaceful end and she will be dearly missed.
Visiting hours will be held Saturday, February 1st, from 10-11 a.m. at Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home. A funeral service, in the funeral home, will be held Saturday starting at 11 a.m. Burial at Canton Corner Cemetery.
