Jeanne Ellen Roulleau, a beacon of light and love, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2025, in Boston, MA, after a brief acute illness. Born on August 29, 1948, in New York, NY, to Charles and Doris Calcagno, Jeanne's zest for life and passion for culture were evident to all whose lives she touched.

Diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia in September 2024, Jeanne never lost her fighting spirit or sense of humor through the intensive rounds of chemotherapy that had successfully put the cancer in remission. Unfortunately, her system was unable to stave off an opportunistic infection that progressed quickly over the course of her last few days.

Jeanne is survived by her sons, Nicolas and Christian Roulleau; her beloved granddaughters, Amelie, Camille, and Miranda Roulleau; her daughters-in-law, Melissa and Macushla Roulleau; and her sister, Joanne Callahan. She was a pillar of strength and joy within her family, and her absence will be deeply felt.

A lifelong lover of language and learning, Jeanne studied French at the University of Rochester and went on to earn a Master’s degree at Middlebury College. Her professional life was marked by her dedication to education. She was a revered French teacher in the Milton Public Schools, where she spent the majority of her career. Her dedication to teaching was matched only by her commitment to her students, whom she inspired with her enthusiasm for French language and culture. Jeanne retired in 2015 as a respected educator, leaving behind a legacy of enriched minds and hearts.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Jeanne was a woman of many and varied interests. She had a passion for cuisine, regularly delighting her family and friends with the exquisite meals she seemed to create as naturally as breathing. She loved to travel, especially to explore her family roots in Italy and to nurture its branches in France. Music and musical theater held a special place in Jeanne's heart, especially as performed by her children and grandchildren, in whom she fostered the same passion for the arts. Jeanne was also a master of puzzles, crosswords, and wordplay of all kinds, a testament to her sharp intellect and wit.

Jeanne's life was one of purpose and pleasure, of dedication to her family, her students, and her myriad interests. Her presence was a gift to those around her, and her memory will continue to inspire and guide us. Her laughter, her wisdom, and her love will be dearly missed, but the impact she made on the world will endure.

As we bid farewell to Jeanne Ellen Roulleau, we celebrate a life splendidly lived and a woman dearly loved. Her story is one of passion, education, and the enduring bonds of family. Even as her life was a blessing to all who knew her, so may her memory be a blessing to them now.
