Isabelle M (Stevenson) Toomey

Isabelle M. Toomey (Stevenson), formerly of Canton passed away on May 18, 2024, at St. Vincent's Hospital in Worcester. She was born in Norwood, MA.

Isabelle's early years were spent in the town of Canton, MA. She graduated from Canton High School and later Fisher Jr. College.

For many years, Isabelle worked as a Real Estate Appraiser for Paul Taylor & Associates Real Estate in Canton.

Beyond her professional achievements, Isabelle was a devoted wife to the late John E. Toomey Jr. Together they built a loving home and raised two wonderful sons, John E. Toomey, III, and his wife Laurie of Uxbridge, and Michael C. Toomey and his wife Sarah of Toronto. Isabelle was the proud grandmother to Liam, Gillian, Ethan, Noah, Aedan and Cian as well as Mischa, her four-legged canine granddog. Her family was Isabelle’s great joy, and she enriched their lives with her love and support.

Isabelle's siblings - Carol Stevenson of Bourne, Charles Stevenson, Jr. of Florida, and Joan DiGiacomo of Norwood - will remember her as a sister who shared in their joys and stood by them through life's challenges. Her presence was a source of comfort and strength to her family.

Isabelle found solace and expression in oil painting. She had a special affinity for the ocean and spent many summers with her family at the New Hampshire seashore.

As we say goodbye to Isabelle, we celebrate the life she lived and the ways she made our lives better. Her memory will be cherished and her love felt forevermore. Her passing leaves a void that will be felt deeply by those who were fortunate enough to know her.

Isabelle's life will be commemorated as noted below, family and friends are invited to gather to honor her memory and the love she brought into their lives. Interment will be with her husband at the Bourne National Cemetery in Bourne, MA. 

May Isabelle’s soul rest in peace, and may her spirit continue to guide us in love.

Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.  Funeral Mass at St. Oscar Romero Church, Canton Thursday morning at 10:00.  Burial Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne Friday morning at 11:15.
