Irene Gesiak Kelley, 93, of Canton, passed away peacefully on October 27, at her home.
Born in Taunton, Irene grew up with a deep love of music, science, and learning. She attended Boston University, where she earned her B.A. and M.A. degrees in geology, later earning an MLS from Simmons Graduate School and Ed.D from Boston University. She served as librarian at Brown University, Randolph Public Library, then Milton Public Schools. Her intellectual curiosity and dedication to education were lifelong hallmarks of her character.
A gifted violinist, Irene played at her High School graduation rather than give a Valedictorian speech, then played while attending Boston University, and was a devoted member of the Brockton Symphony Orchestra for more than 55 years.
A devout Catholic and three-time cancer survivor, Irene met every challenge with faith and grace. She was married to Thomas Kelley for 59 years until his passing in 2015. She is survived by her sons Steven of San Diego, CA; Kenneth of Menlo Park, CA; and Richard of Syracuse, NY; along with 15 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
She also enjoyed painting, knitting, Scrabble, and family outings to IHOP.
Her life was defined by faith, love, and quiet strength. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral Mass will be held on Monday, November 3rd, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Oscar Romero Church, 700 Washington St. Canton, MA. Burial at Canton Corner Cemetery.
