Herbert A. Kunins

Herbert Kunins, affectionately known as “Herbie” to friends, passed away on June 6, 2026, in Canton, Massachusetts. Born in the Bronx, New York on June 7, 1965, he lived a life marked by warmth, energy, and a genuine love for people. He was the son of Marvin and Marilyn Kunins and the brother of David Kunins of Long Island, New York, and the late Alaine Canarick. He will be remembered with deep affection by all who knew him.

Herbert was raised in Long Island and the Hamptons, where he spent his formative years surrounded by the places and people that helped shape his character. He attended Herrick’s High School and the Knox School, experiences that contributed to the foundation of his lifelong appreciation for connection, friendship, and community. He later earned his bachelor’s degree from Curry College, a milestone that reflected his determination and commitment to building a meaningful future.

For the past 20 years, Herbert made his home in Canton, Massachusetts, where he became a familiar and valued presence. He was known not only as a resident of the town, but also as someone who brought sincerity and friendliness to every part of his life. His easy manner and outgoing personality made him someone people naturally gravitated toward. He had the rare ability to make friends wherever he went, and he carried himself with the kind of openness that made others feel comfortable in his company.

Herbert worked as a salesman at Watertown Lexus, a role he truly loved. He took pride in his work and found great satisfaction in the relationships he built through it. He was also an avid tuna fisherman, and he found joy in the challenge and satisfaction that came with tuna fishing. Herbert was, above all, a people person. He had an outgoing personality that made him approachable and memorable, and he had a natural gift for making others feel at ease.
