Henry J. Lawlor, age 84, of Canton passed away peacefully on October 26, 2024, surrounded by his loving family in Indiana. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, Henry's life was a testament to the power of education, the strength of family bonds, and the joy of simple daily pleasures.
Henry was raised in Brighton and Westwood and he attended Westwood High School. His love for learning led him to McGill University in Montreal, Canada, where he graduated with a degree that would pave the way for a lifelong career in education. Henry dedicated 35 years of his life to teaching the students of Randolph Public Schools, where he left an indelible mark on countless young lives.
After residing in Canton for three decades, followed by several years living in Stoughton and Norfolk, Henry recently moved to Indiana to be near family. He was the beloved husband to the late Virginia D. Lawlor (Centore), and together they nurtured a loving family. Henry was a devoted father to Michelle Morin and her husband Jeff of Tennessee, Henry "Hank" Lawlor and his wife Heather of Massachusetts, Brendan Lawlor and his wife Kathleen of Ohio, and Patrick Lawlor and his wife April of Indiana. His role as a brother was held dear to Ann DiNapoli of Minnesota, Joan Grady of Massachusetts, Jack and Barbara Lawlor of Massachusetts, Agnes and Dennis Farrell of Maine, Paul Lawlor of Massachusetts, and his late sister Marylou and Bill McCarthy of Massachusetts. His legacy continues through his nine adored grandchildren; Annastasia, Nicholas, Katie, Julia, Sean, Celia, Ryan, Aiden, and Jameson who will carry the wisdom and kindness he imparted into the future.
Henry's passion for life was evident in his daily routine. An avid walker, he cherished his 3 to 5-mile walks each day, a practice that kept him vibrant and engaged with the world around him. His commitment to his faith was equally important, as he was an active member of the People of Praise in Indiana. Henry's intelligence and loving nature were the pillars upon which he built his life, and these traits shone brightly in both his personal and professional endeavors.
His absence will be felt deeply by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Henry's gentle guidance, his thoughtful insights, and his unwavering support were gifts to his family, friends, and community. He was a man who listened more than he spoke, and when he did share his words, they were always worth cherishing.
As we bid farewell to Henry J. Lawlor, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and grace. His was a journey of dedication—to his family, his faith, and his students. We take solace in the memories he leaves behind and the knowledge that his spirit will continue to guide us. Henry's life was a beautiful illustration of the impact one person can have when they approach each day with love and intelligence.
Henry's story does not end here; it lives on in the values he instilled in his children, the knowledge he imparted to his students, and the footsteps he left on the paths he walked.
May Henry J. Lawlor rest in peace, knowing that the love he shared will continue to grow, the lessons he taught will never be forgotten, and the life he lived will always be celebrated.
