Francis Quinn Obituary

Francis W. Quinn, aged 86, a long-time resident of Canton, Mass., passed away peacefully on October 31, 2024. Born on May 12, 1938, in Boston, he was the son of the late Francis and Margaret (Fleming) Quinn.

Frank was the beloved husband of Ellen T. (Crotty) Quinn for 59 years. A devoted father, he leaves behind his three sons: Francis W. Quinn III and his partner Theodore Alcarez of New York City, Brian J. Quinn and his wife Lisa (Fox) of Foxboro, and Kyle C. Quinn and his wife Jodie (Baril) of Fort Lauderdale. Frank is also survived by his six grandchildren, Lexi, Dylan, and Macy; and Emily, Liam, and Grady. He is also survived by his brothers, Charles Quinn (Lee) of Pembroke and William Quinn of Boston, and his sister, Alice Eastland (Chris) of Vero Beach, Florida. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Margaret (Quinn) Kilroy and Marilyn (Quinn) MacLeod.

Frank grew up in the Old Harbor projects of South Boston and maintained lifelong relationships with his Southie friends.

After receiving his BA and MA from Boston State Teachers College, Frank taught at the Mather School in Dorchester for many years. He attended Suffolk Law School at night, and after passing the bar went into private practice in Milton. As a lawyer, he was a fixture in the Dorchester and Roxbury courts, playing part lawyer and part social worker trying to help people turn their lives around. He saw the good in everyone.

The Quinn Family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the many friends and neighbors who have offered their support during this time, as well as to the staff at Newbridge on the Charles in Dedham for their excellent care in his last months.
