Evelyn Larson Obituary

Evelyn Laverne Larson, age 89, passed away peacefully at her home in Onset on May 2, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Brockton, Massachusetts, Evelyn's life was a testament to the power of love and commitment to those she held dear.

Evelyn was the wife of the late Harold O. Larson, and together they built a life centered around family. She was a cherished mother to Louise Larson Hannington and her husband Attorney Glen Hannington of Canton, Peter Larson of Onset and partner Trudy Thomas of Middleboro, and Sharon Fundin and her husband David Fundin of Brooklyn, CT. Her siblings held a special place in her heart, including her sister Audrey Chambers of Allen, TX, and she was predeceased by Ronald Leonard, Blanche Lakeman, and Carol Parkinson.

Evelyn's legacy extends through her adoring grandchildren, Nicole Hannington Horodas and her husband Marc Horodas of Las Vegas, Nevada, Tevis Hannington Leibner and her husband Jordan Leibner of Belmore, NY, Hillary Fundin and her partner Charlotte Ward of Brooklyn, CT, and Shelby Fundin and her partner Sawyer Woodland of Connecticut. Some of her most special moments in the final months of her life were spent with her great-grandson, Chase Hunter Leibner. He will grow up hearing stories of the incredible woman who made such a lasting impression on those around her.

Raised in the town of her birth, Evelyn was a proud graduate of Brockton High School. She furthered her education and embraced a life of service by attending Nursing School in Independence, Missouri. While her career path led her to work in healthcare, she also found fulfillment in her role as a dedicated housewife and mother.

Evelyn's interests were a reflection of her artistic soul and her joy in creating beauty in the world. She found solace and delight in rug braiding, painting, gardening and various crafts. Her cooking and baking was a source of comfort and celebration for her family, friends, and church community. As a dedicated Priesthood member of the Community of Christ Church, she lived out the church’s ideals, played an active role in its community, and most of all valued the people and place she called home.

Evelyn’s life was defined by creativity, dedication to her loved ones, care and commitment to her community, and she will be missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. As loved ones come together to remember her, they’ll find comfort in the lasting impact she had on their lives and the memories they share. Evelyn’s influence lives on in the love and connections she helped create.

A celebration of her life will be held this summer on a date to be announced.
