Ellen M. Ronayne, a beacon of kindness and friendliness, passed away on December 22, 2023, at the Hellenic Nursing Home in Canton, Massachusetts. Born in of Norwood, MA, Ellen was a cherished daughter, sister, aunt, and friend whose generosity of spirit left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Raised in Canton, Ellen was the devoted daughter of the late Eleanor (Walsh) and Maurice Ronayne. She was a loving sister to Elizabeth Persson of Foxboro, Mark Ronayne of Bridgewater, and she carried the memory of her late brother Maurice Ronayne in her heart. Ellen's warmth and care extended to her several nieces and nephews, whom she adored and who will miss her dearly.
Ellen's pursuit of knowledge and personal growth was evident in her academic journey. She was a proud graduate of Canton High School, after which she continued her education at Massasoit Community College. Her love for learning propelled her to the University of Massachusetts Boston, and she later enriched her life and others by attending Harvard Theology School.
Professionally, Ellen dedicated many years of service as a College Counselor for American Student Assistants in Boston. Her guidance and wisdom helped shape the futures of countless young individuals, providing them with the tools and confidence to pursue their educational dreams. Ellen's commitment to her work was paralleled only by her dedication to her faith and community.
A devout Catholic, Ellen was a valued member of St. Susanna's Parish in Dedham. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and her unwavering commitment to serve others. Ellen's interests also included reading and engaging in political discourse, which allowed her to stay informed and contribute to her community in meaningful ways.
Ellen's legacy is one of compassion and friendship. Those who had the pleasure of crossing paths with her were touched by her innate ability to listen, comfort, and uplift. Ellen's presence was a source of joy, and her influence will continue to resonate through the lives of those she touched.
As we bid farewell to Ellen M. Ronayne, we remember a life lived with purpose, grace, and an abundance of kindness. Her journey may have come to a close, but her spirit persists in the love she shared and the lives she enriched. Ellen's memory will be treasured forever by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass at St. Oscar Romero Church, Canton Wednesday morning at 11:30. Burial Highland Cemetery, Norwood.
