Elizabeth M. Johnson

Elizabeth M. Johnson, 86, of Canton, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2026. She was born on March 11, 1940, in Boston, and lived a life marked by faith, devotion, and deep love for her family and community.

The daughter of Armand and Sarah Bisson of Roslindale. Elizabeth was the beloved wife of Robert Johnson, with whom she shared a devoted and enduring marriage for sixty-five years. Together, they built a loving family in Canton, that was the center of her life. She was the loving mother of Lynne Doherty of Wrentham, Susan Reed and her husband Kenny of East Bridgewater, Laurie Frazier and her husband Chris of Canton, Robert Johnson and his wife Eleanor of Billerica, and Sandy Hart and her husband Scott of Canton. Her family was her greatest joy, and she took great pride in each of her children and the lives they built.

She was a proud grandmother (Mimi) to 17 grandchildren and a great-grandmother to 4, and she treasured every moment spent with them. Her grandchildren knew her as a constant source of encouragement, warmth, and unconditional love. She found great happiness in family gatherings, celebrations, and the simple everyday moments that became lasting memories for those who knew her best.She especially loved cheering her grandchildren on at their many sporting events and activities.  

Elizabeth was the sister of James Bisson of Florida, Armand Bisson of Walpole, and Stephen Bisson of Boston. She was also the sister of the late Father Joseph Bisson, S.V.D., the late Elaine Gartman, and the late Richard Bisson. 

A devout Catholic, Elizabeth was an active member of St. John the Evangelist Church and lived her faith each day. She volunteered with religious education, the youth organization and served as a Girl Scout leaderfor many years. She even took large Girl Scout troops to Quebec, Montreal, Pennsylvania and on many camping outings.  Her commitment to her church and community reflected her generous spirit and her desire to live a life of service.

Her passing marks the end of a long and meaningful life, but her legacy will live on in the many lives she touched. She will be remembered with love and gratitude by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 26th from 4-7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, May 27th at St. Oscar Romero Parish at 10 a.m. Burial at Knollwood Memorial Park.
