LYNCH, Dorothy Anne (Diskin) of Stoughton, entered eternal, peaceful rest at home in Stoughton, MA on Monday, July 1st, 2024 after a long battle with an illness. She was 83 years young.
Born in Somerville, MA, she was raised in Somerville and West Roxbury, and was the daughter of the late John J., Jr. and Gertrude (McGlinchey) Diskin. Dorothy (Dot) attended Mount Saint Joseph's Academy in Brighton and graduated with the Class of 1959. She continued her education at Nazareth College in Kentucky where she received her degree in mathematics with a minor in chemistry. She received her Master's Degree from Curry College. Most of her professional career was spent teaching mathematics at Archbishop Williams High School in Braintree, MA. Dot’s greatest professional joy was helping students who struggled with math. She above all instilled developing the confidence in themselves while reinforcing the concepts and solving problems. Her greatest gift was being able to explain mathematical concepts in different ways to help a larger percentage of her students excel in areas they didn’t think possible. Dot was truly energized by the tremendous friendships she developed with many former teachers, administrators and students she met. This was further emphasized during her birthday celebration last year that had 20+ former coworkers and an students in attendance. She will be deeply missed by all those she touched.
In her spare time, Dot enjoyed going to the casino, catching up with friends, reading, watching movies, and spending time with her family. Above all, her true joys was spending quality time with her grandchildren, Colin and Maeve. Dot lived a life of service and compassion. This was on display up until her last moments through her interactions with her care takers. This legacy is one in which Dot’s family hopes will live on through them.
Dot is survived by her beloved son, Robert J. Lynch (Rob), his wife Melissa, and two wonderful grandchildren whom she adored, Colin and Maeve of Stoughton.
