Deborah A. Sturgeon, a cherished soul whose warmth and dedication to her family knew no bounds, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2025, on her 65th birthday, in Plymouth, Massachusetts. Born on June 10, 1960, in Dorchester, MA, Deborah was the loving daughter of Elmer and Stella McKay. Her life was a testament to the love and care she bestowed upon her family and everyone fortunate enough to cross her path.
Deborah grew up in the heart of Dorchester, where she attended Dorchester High School. Her academic journey did not end there; she furthered her education at Northeastern University, earning a bachelor's degree that would serve as the foundation for her professional endeavors. After completing her studies, she spent five years in East Weymouth before settling in Marshfield, where she would build a life full of love and laughter.
In her professional life, Deborah was the friendly face greeting members at the front desk of the Canton Club. She later transitioned to environmental services, where she dedicated her time to Beth Israel Hospital in Milton and Pembroke Hospital. Her work ethic and compassionate nature made her a beloved figure within these communities.
Deborah's heart, however, truly belonged to her family. She was the beloved wife of the late Larry L. Sturgeon, and together they raised a family that would become her world. She was a devoted mother to Steven A. Sturgeon of Marshfield, and Michael L. Sturgeon and his wife Jennifer of Canton. Her role as a mother was only surpassed by her joy in becoming a grandmother to Regina Rizzo, Damian Rizzo, Layla Sturgeon, and Elyse Sturgeon. Her brother, John McKay and his wife the late Debbie McKay, and Gary McKay and his wife Terri McKay, both of Leesburg, Florida, will remember their sister with fondness and deep love. She has joined her other siblings, the late Donny McKay and his wife the late Diane, the late Danny McKay and his wife the late Mary Anne, and the late Larry McKay.
Deborah's life was characterized by her unwavering commitment to her family. She was a fixture at her grandchildren's school events, cheering them on with pride and never missing a moment to celebrate their achievements. Her kitchen was a hub of activity and laughter, as she loved nothing more than cooking with her grandchildren and imparting to them the joys of creating something with love.
To those who knew Deborah, she was an extremely devoted mother and grandmother whose presence could light up a room. Her nurturing spirit, kind heart, and generous nature will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Deborah A. Sturgeon's legacy will live on through the memories she created with her loved ones and the countless lives she touched with her grace and kindness.
