Claude Lee Gibson

C. Lee Gibson Sr., known to family and friends as Lee, passed away in Canton, Massachusetts. He was born in Hurricane, West Virginia, and lived a life marked by devotion to his family, faith, service, and many friendships.

Lee was the beloved husband of June M. (Ferrera) Gibson. He was the cherished son of the late Robert and Reathel Gibson of West Virginia. He was also the loving father of C. Lee Gibson Jr. and his wife Alicia of Norfolk, Jan Smith, J.D. and her husband Corey of Tampa, Fl., and Christopher J. Gibson and his wife Adelaida of Norfolk. He was the proud grandfather of Christopher M. Gibson, M.D., and his wife Averi, Meghan Gibson, M.D., and her husband Peter, Kaitlyn Gibson, N.P., and her husband Nicholas, Ian Smith, Shaylyn Smith, Christopher J. Gibson Jr., Sarah Fox and her husband Jason, and Julia Leonhard and her husband Mark. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren Riley and Connor Gibson, and Peter and Paul Roman. Lee was predeceased by his sisters Artis Gibson of West Virginia, Phyllis Mullin of North Carolina, and Charlotte Bowman of North Carolina. His sister Sharon Greathouse lives in North Carolina.

Lee attended Boston College Evening School and carried throughout his life the determination and discipline that shaped his personal and professional accomplishments. He served his country honorably as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army stationed at a Nike Site in New England. This role reflected his sense of duty, integrity, and commitment to others. After his military service, he built a highly respected career as an executive at James Ferrera and Sons, where he was known for his leadership, work ethic, and steady presence.

A Christian man, Lee lived his faith in quiet and meaningful ways. He valued family, friendship, and the simple pleasures of life, and he took great joy in the time he spent with those he loved. He especially enjoyed biking and golfing, and he was a familiar and accomplished presence at Wampatuck Country Club in Canton and Heritage Palms Country Club in Florida. He won many tournaments over the years, and his love of the game was matched by the enjoyment he found in the camaraderie and competition it provided.

Those who knew Lee will remember him as a man of warmth, strength, and character. He had a deep appreciation for his family and took pride in their accomplishments and lives. He was happiest when surrounded by loved ones, and he leaves behind a legacy of devotion that will continue through the generations he helped shape. His family will remember his steady guidance, his humor, and the example he set through his actions.

Lee’s life reflected loyalty, perseverance, and grace. He will be remembered with love and gratitude by his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and many friends. His memory will remain a source of comfort and inspiration to all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours at Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home, Canton, MA on Wednesday, May 13th from 9:30-10:30 a.m. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Oscar Romero Parish, Canton, MA on Wednesday, May 13th at 11 a.m. Burial will be private.
