Claire M Matthews

Claire Matthews, a beacon of love and selflessness, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2025 at her home in Sharon, Massachusetts. She was born on February 24, 1942, in Fall River, and spent her life dedicated to caring for others with a tender touch and a warm smile. Claire's life was a testament to the power of kindness and the impact one person can have on the lives of so many. 

Claire embarked on a fulfilling career as a Certified Nursing Attendant, providing compassionate care to those in need. Her nurturing spirit eventually led to her employment at New England Sinai Hospital, where she worked in the Central Supply Department until her retirement. Her passion for helping others continued as she lovingly nannied several young families in town, but mostly she cherished the time she spent with her beloved family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Matthews, with whom she shared a beautiful life until his passing in 2017. Claire's legacy lives on through her devoted daughter, Patrice Perkins, her son-in-law, Michael Perkins and her two granddaughters, Mikaila Perkins and Jillian Perkins.  Her sister, Cecile Almeida, and niece, Debi Pickering, along with friends and family, will hold dear the memories of Claire's unwavering impact on those around her. Family was Claire's greatest joy, and she relished in the simple pleasures of life.

Claire's Catholic faith was the cornerstone of her life and provided solace during life's challenges. Her interests were as varied as they were enthusiastic such as crocheting, sewing, baking, or playing cards, capturing how she was really "game" for anything.

She will be remembered as a loving, selfless, and gentle soul who brought a warm presence and joy to all who knew her. As we say goodbye to Claire, we celebrate a life lived with purpose, grace, and a commitment to her family. Her spirit will continue to inspire and guide us, reminding us of the beauty of life and love. 

Visiting hours will be held at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home for 8:30-9:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 10th. A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Sorrow in Sharon on Thursday, July 10th at 10:00 a.m. A private burial service will take place at a late date at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
